Believed to have developed from Nordic sheep brought by Viking settlers they are short-tailed Primitives. They are now widely dispersed throught the British Isles.

Prized by handspinners, the wide range of fleece colours – from white, moorit, shaela to dark brown and black is part of this breed’s appeal.
